And the Color Is…

This post was imported from a blog called Contemporation where Amy and I wrote about the renovation of our 80’s contemporary home in Atlanta. That blog is no more but I wanted the content to live on.

After tallying up the comments on our last post, the replies on Twitter and the comments on Facebook, it seemed that option 1, 2 and 3 were all pretty close. There were definitely things we liked about all 5 of the color schemes but we decided to go with Option #1, “Anonymous” as the house color. So far, only the addition and the front of the house are painted. We’re planning to replace some windows and do some siding work once the project is done and wanted to hold off on painting the older parts of the house until those items are checked off.

Actual Color

Mockup

As you can see from the picture above, the color is quite a bit less saturated than it looked in Photoshop. Amy and I really love it though. While the color makes a big difference, there’s a lot more changing around here than exterior paint colors. HVAC lines are being run, a new electrical subpanel was installed in the garage and the entry door from the garage into the first floor was hung. Actually, all of the doorways between the old and new structure have been roughed in and demolition has started on the master bathroom, our former closet/laundry room which will become a bathroom for the old master bedroom, and Amy’s former office area which will become a powder bathroom for the 2nd floor. Getting moved out of those spaces, especially our closet has kept us very busy and feeling very cramped. I’m hoping to find some time this weekend to post pictures of the demolition and framing progress. It puts the little bit of bathroom demo I did before the project got started to shame.
